An empty field devoid of activity: one of the first things that comes to mind to many people when the topic of Meridian is brought up. While the variety of misadventures occurring within has been on the decline as of late, one will inevitably find something - or someone - if the decision is make to go looking. Whatever prompted you to go on a midnight stroll through one of the innumerable fields seems to have paid off; somewhere off in the distance, a couple of figures could be spotted shifting around in a dimly-illuminated series of rocks.
Well, what are you waiting for? That strange, foreboding feeling of apprehension that cropped up not long after entering this particular section of field is probably nothing. Nothing at all.

"Wow... this place really brings back memories..."Cel ambled through the field, looking this way and that. Ordinarily she wasn't one to wander about alone at night, but for some reason she felt compelled to. Maybe because she used to randomly pop up in pixelated fields a lot back in the day? Mysteries abound. More importantly, that was probably why she didn't flee at the first sign of activity. Something about this whole situation was awfully nostalgic, and the high from that outweighed her fear. She took a deep breath, braced herself, and continued onward toward the figures in hope that she wasn't about to get herself horribly murdered.

Before long, the light cloud cover obscuring the equally-pixellated moon gave way to heavier-looking ones, and with it a steady sprinkle of rain to add to the already-disconcerting atmosphere of the field. On the upside, the decrease in ambient light caused the somewhat illuminated rocks up ahead to become more visible, and with them the handful of figures moving about them. It would be fairly easy to tell that there was at least two of them at this point, especially considering that the smaller of the humanoid shapes appeared to be intermittently glowing with some sort of faint, yellow bioluminescent light. As Cel - and anyone else present, for that matter - drew closer, the low chatter of voices would eventually become audible.
"Oooh, this is all so exciting! Not very often that we get to go on an expedition to an untouched site, much less one so far-removed from home and with such a legacy! You can practically feel the charge in the air here."
"That's because you can feel it. Considering what happened, it's surprising that it hasn't been picked over by scavengers long ago. Now keep your voice down, before you attract trouble."
"Awww, come on. It's not like anyone is going to be so far out at this time of night."

[cel] "O-Oh, what am I getting myself into...?" Cel asked herself as she continued forward. She wasn't just going against her better judgment now, she was drop-kicking it into a pit of flaming spikes. Spikes made of tiny chainsaws. It was really quite daunting, but she just couldn't get over the familiar environment. She stopped when she noticed the figures, listening in as best as she could. Was this a sign to run for her life? Or were these people good noodles? She pulled up her hood, partially to protect herself from the rain but mostly to psychologically protect herself from her fear. "W-Well... I'm far enough away that I could run if I. Had to. M-Maybe. S-So... w-well, here goes..."Cel took a deep breath and cupped her hands over her mouth, feebly shouting: "H-Hello?! W-Who's over there?! Please don't murder me!"

Cel's attempt at getting the figures' attention went without much noticeable response, aside from the fact that both had ceased their activity for the moment. In the meantime, the storm rolling in had begun to intensify, casting shadows over the few areas that had been illuminated in starlight. A few rumbles of thunder accompanied this oh-so-ominous change of scenery, punctuated by a brief flash of lightning in the distance. If a lurking axe murderer were to make their appearance about now and totally murder Cel, now would be the time.
"I don't think this is the best time for a walk in the middle of nowhere, if you were to ask me."
Almost as if on cue, a second lightning flash lit up the area once more, revealing a large, hooded figure that hadn't been there a moment ago just off to Cel's left. Perhaps coming to a realization that large hooded dudes almost inevitably mean murder, the individual removed their hood a moment later.
"It's been awhile, hasn't it Cel?"
If the lack of shades and change in haircut made the individual hard to recognize, the voice would most likely clue her in as to who her not-so-axe-murdery company was.

[cel] and then cel got axe murdered, rest in peace ;_;7"oh no oh no i have made a HUGE mistake," Cel thought to herself as the environment became increasingly ominous. She was lured in by charming pixels, and now if she didn't get axe murdered she was going to get struck by lightning! Why did she drop-kick her better judgment into a flaming pit of chainsaw spikes?! Needless to say, upon the sudden thunderclap and the appearance of a hooded figure saying something kind of ominous, Cel yelped and jumped back, covering her face as though the sleeves of her poofy coat were really going to provide any protection against a murder axe. But upon the figure proceeding to say something significantly less ominous, Cel timidly lowered her arms and peeked to see who her maybe-not-murderer was. "B-Black?" she squeaked. "Black!" Cel continued, her mood doing a 180, "I can't believe it, it's you! Y-You're right, it's been forever!"Cel's posture relaxed, though her fleeting anxiety was still making her legs tremble. Or maybe that was just embarrassment. Or maybe she just wasn't convinced there wasn't still an axe murderer about. Or maybe it was a build-up of energy from keeping herself from hugging him in celebration. Probably all of the above, actually. "How've you been? What are you doing here? I'm so glad you're not an axe murderer..." she asked excitedly. "Um, sorry! There I go, already asking a bunch of questions..." she commented sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck.

"Oh, no worries. I've sort of become accustomed to being greeted like that when I show my face around here. Sorry about the shadow lurking and all, but I wasn't really expecting company all the way out here of all places. The fickle weather certainly doesn't help my case, either. Anyways, things are just busy as usual, and I'm... looking for something, to put it simply."
Black sighed and planted the large spade that he apparently has been lugging around with him into the ground, most likely raising further questions that would hopefully soon be answered. At the same time, a a brief flash of bluish-white light would be briefly visible from just off to Black's left moments before a torch flickered to life, revealing another pair of figures-- a rather plant-like individual streaked with some sort of yellow-green bioluminescent markings and a hulking, 14-foot mass of muscle and blonde hair encased in vivid-red armor. Considering the former's appearance, they were very likely the people Cel had spotted earlier.
"Everything ok over here, boss? Not like you to drop your work when you're in the digging groove."
"And who are you talking to over there, anyways?"
