Not far removed from the battle underway at Capital Defense HQ, the everyday workings of the city carried on as usual, the background noise of explosions and gunfire in the distance apparently accepted as an everyday fact of life. This particular section of the city was more devoted to the needs of the many workers bustling about, and as such an assortment of fast food joints, sit-downs, and anything else imaginable could easily be found with little more than a casual glance about.
It is here that two different involved parties would find themselves. The group escorting the ginger-haired, cloak-wearing woman would approach from the financial district, just outside the audible range of the gunfire further in.
"My, this certainly is a busy little city, isn't it? Seems a fitting home for such a well-reputed company like Capital Defense."

"Oh, yes... quite busy." the parasol-wielding woman behind the other commented with a quick, low laugh. She glanced about at everything there was to see, grip tightening around her parasol as though she was struggling to subdue her excitement. Even from this distance she could feel it... the aura of death, the smell of blood, the sound of agony... it had to be close. So close she could hardly contain herself! Ah, how long it had been since she felt something so wonderful! She picked up the pace, the spring in her step plainly obvious. "And oh so very..." Was that a sigh? That was a sigh. A dreamy one, at that. "...so very fitting."

"Quite fitting. What better place for a bunch of bloodthirsty mercenaries to set up camp than somewhere like this?"
The ever-so-calm tone of the woman's voice wavered for just a second, perhaps out of disdain for the aforementioned mercenary company. Whatever the cause, it would quickly be offset by the distinctive sound of automatic gunfire, interspersed with some shouting and terrified screams. This spate of violence seemed to be much closer this time, with smoke drifting out of an alleyway a couple blocks up, as well as inexplicable bursts of green light and shimmering pink clouds. Not exactly what is expected out of an apparent firefight, but there it was nonetheless.
"My, isn't that unusual? I might be a little worried in any other circumstance, but you look like you can handle yourself when something... unpleasant comes around."
The traveler picked up her pace somewhat, one hand falling to her side in what one could assume is preparedness to react to said unpleasantness.

The parasol woman sighed again at the sound of chaos on screaming ahead, even more dreamily than before - it was really more akin to a pleasured moan. "Oh, no need to worry about me," she assured her companion with an excited shudder. In one swift motion, she flicked her wrist and her parasol instantly transformed into a scythe large enough to satisfy the Grim Reaper. Or an anime character. Like, anime Death. "I'm more than capable of handling myself. It's been so long since I've..." she sighed once more, stroking her scythe lovingly, "Since I've had the opportunity to have such fun..."look at what you've gotten yourself into look at what you made me type up at school

"Somehow I didn't think that would be an issue with you... I've been in the business long enough to pick the good ones out of a crowd, y'know?"
The woman shook herself free of her traveling cloak, fully revealing both her reddish-orange hair and the exceptionally frightening-looking firearm that was somehow tucked safely away in the midst of her cloak. Not stopping to so much raise an eyebrow at Her off-putting behavior, she shouldered the weapon and picked up the pace, sticking close to the side of a nearby building as she made her way there.
"Since I can only guess that the time for pleasantries is short, I guess I should at least be professional enough to introduce myself. Miranda Vasquez, head of Black Talon Security Solutions-- but just call me Mira. As you might be able to guess, I have business with one of the parties currently engaged in whatever it is that is going on up there a ways. Not what I was expecting to walk into, but around here it seems like you take what you can get."
Speaking of said kerfuffle, the multicolored bursts of light and gunfire were starting to look a little more distinct; namely, the tell-tale green blobs of plasma fire and violet shimmers of some sort of magic. Nothing good can come of this is certainly an understatement at this point.

"What a lovely name," she complimented with a flutter of her eyelashes. Her grip around her scythe tightened until her knuckles were white, breathing becoming progressively heavier. "A shame I don't have one of my own. But I like to see what people choose scream out with their dying breaths when they don't have a name to call!"Each little burst and blast sent shivers up her spine, causing her to shudder as her face reddened. She touched a hand gingerly to it, laughing to herself. "Such wonderful business to take care of! But we really ought to hurry. I don't know if I'll be able to contain myself any longer... I feel like I might just explode... ah, such a lovely atmosphere~! ♥ The thought that I'm not part of it yet is just torture..."yeah you know how to pick out the good ones alright

"Well that's definitely unique, if nothing else. Bet you've had all sorts of names then, huh? Or maybe just a few, with a bunch of different kinds of screaming. Matter of fact, I'll just call ya Screams for now. Nice to see someone who appreciates the finer points of a life-or-death struggle-"
Mira was cut off by a sudden chirping sound, followed by a few moments of static before a voice rang out from what one could assume was a communications device strapped to her belt.
"M? C'mon, get your happy ass over here! I've engaged two more hostile parties who seem awfully hellbent on acquiring the same provision that we're attempting to grab. One with unidentifiable small arms, and another with magic. Hope you brought something to help alleviate that little problem, because I have neither jack nor shit to handle it. E out.
"And there's the motivation we need to get moving. Let's see you put that big spooky stick of yours to work, yeah?"
With no further hesitation, Mira cranked a lever on the side of the sparking, cannon-esque weapon she was holding and dropped into a low sprint, keeping off to the shaded portion of the sidewalk running alongside the various skyscrapers. It wouldn't take long for the fact that it was a rolling firefight to become evident, considering the number of pockmarks and plasma scorches dotting both the street and facades of buildings.
"Alright, so here's my plan. My business associate, Escher, is a big fella in a fancy, futuristic suit of power armor. Long blonde hair, half of his face looks like it's made out of metal... pretty easy stuff to spot. I'd really appreciate it he didn't get cleaved in half, because then I'd have to get him pieced back together again, but anyone else up there is fair game. I'll be giving fire support from a vantage point back here until it stops working, which is when I'll join you in the ruckus. Try not to die!"
The woman flashed one last, unmistakable gleeful smile at Her before taking an awfully inhuman running leap up to the awning of one of the nearby buildings. Up ahead, a figure crouched behind a concrete barricade took a moment to glance back in acknowledgment of Her presence before popping out from behind it for a brief moment to fire a volley of plasma bursts somewhere further down the street. Judging by his appearance, he was probably the one Mira was just talking about. Might be a good idea not to slice him up quite yet, yeah?

The woman giggled coquettishly, fluttering her eyelashes once more as she leaned her head against her scythe. "Ooooh, that's a new one... mmmmm, I like it~ ♥" she... um, approved. Before she could indulge much further in all of this glorious praising, the communication device rang out and she supposed she ought do listen. "Oh, with pleasure! And I suppose I can do you the favor of sparing a life... it's the least I can do to repay you for such a lovely gift," she giggled. As Mira left and she made note of her companion, she took one last moment to prepare herself. "Ahh, now it's just you and I and all of those hapless bodies waiting to scream my name! Isn't it exciting?" she spoke to her scythe, kissing the blade before readjusting herself and casually strolling down the middle of the street with a confident smile, evidently not concerned for her well-being. Of course, she wasn't. No, she didn't have any reason to be.

To add to the growing list of people who had not had a good day™, consider one Lieutenant Hector Stone. Having escaped from the catastrophe back at the Capital Defense HQ building, he now found himself in the metaphorical frying pan-- that is, three separate hostile forces that had apparently homed in on his distress beacon and decided that he would be useful in some capability. A host of exceptionally large individuals, dressed in swaths of colorful, purple-accented silks, seemed to be the dominant force at the moment, hurling spells and erecting barriers that deflected both bullets and plasma. Another, headed by the aforementioned associate of Mira's, had taken refuge behind some overturned cars and concrete dividers, with two combat armor-clad soldiers attempting to resuscitate a third who caught a spell square to the face, or what was left thereof. Opposite the robed spellcasters was an odd collection of roughly-dressed pirate types, vaguely steampunk-accented rifleman, and robed mages, who despite their seemingly mish-mash composition appeared to be holding their ground. Finally, a great amount of firepower from all three sides was being directed at a single concrete-and-steel storefront, where one could assume the prize of the day was hiding.
"Commander! Stearns! Anyone? For the love of pete, where the hell is everyone?!"
The casualties already appeared to be mounting, so Her intrusion would not go unnoticed, with a barrage of shimmering jets of pinkish light and a burst of machine gun fire flying her way from positions on both her left and right flanks, respectively. This was almost immediate met with a response from Mira in the form of a massive blast of electrical energy, presumably from the weapon she was holding earlier. The individuals closest to Her right, not having much time to react to the surprise attack, were engulfed in the torrent of electricity, leaving naught but their shocked (heh) screams hanging in the air and some debris-strewn ash piles.
...Well, that certainly escalated quickly!

"Ahh... what a relaxing atmosphere~! Mmm, I feel so at home..." she sighed, inhaling deeply. For better or worse, her peace didn't last for very long. "Oh, impersonal! How cruel! Ah, but not as cruel as I."Despite her unsettlingly serene disposition, upon being fired at her reaction was instantaneous. She spun her scythe around herself, reflecting the attacks thrown at her right back at their sources with impossible accuracy. That's not how scythes work. That's not how any weapon works! "What a miserable day to be on my right side! Imagine what a nightmare it is to be on my wrong side! Ahahahahaha~!" she laughed as she continued merrily prancing toward the storefront, twirling her scythe about as though it were a cheerleader's baton. "Heehee... more like a dream come true, right? ♥" she continued to herself, voice dropping a full octave. listen, you get what you ask for

The hail of reflected bullets seemed to halt all firing from all three sides for a few tense moments, with an audible 'what the FUCK' spouting out from more than one position in the crowds. The lull in combat was quickly broken, however, by another round of electrical blasts from Mira's awning vantage point, which she quickly abandoned once both opposing sides apparently decided that it was a bad idea to leave her up there. The mercenary deftly made her way down the side of the awning and dove for cover behind the same barrier behind which her subordinate was taking refuge.
"Ho-oooly shit, M. Been doing a little recruiting?"
"Nope, Just a new friend I happened to pick up along the way here. She seems to have a knack for this kind of thing. I want to see what she can really do, so make sure the crew refrains from sending stray fire her way."
In response to the apparent effort to hijack their target, the robed individuals changed target once more, this time unleashing a combined hail of firebolts and crackling arcs of electricity. And speaking of said target, Stone didn't seem to be all too relieved at the sight of the scythe-spinning terror oh-so-slowly advancing on his position. After scattering an armful of glowing green mines around the barricade, he made his way inside the store proper, searching for the safest possible escape route.
"Ooooh, hell no. She certainly seems familiar for some weird reason, but there are plenty of questions that I'm just happy leaving unanswered."

[Her] "La-di-da-di-da~ Such a lovely day~ ♪" She sang merrily as She continued onward, spinning with every step and whirling her scythe wildly. It was enough to make a top dizzy. And also dead, considering anything that wasn't gracefully, probably unintentionally dodged continued to be reflected back by her scythe. "...Ah."She stopped in place abruptly. Stone had made a mistake. A horrible mistake. He had attention drawn to him OOC, and that spelled his doom. "Aah. Ah! Ahaha! Ahahahaha! Ahahahahahahaha!" she cackled wildly, laughing so hard that she nearly toppled over with her next step. "I was starting to get bored! This is fun, but I'd really like someone to play with! But it's... ahahaha... ahahaha! It's a good thing I'm... ahahahaha! COUPONS!!"She was nearly brought to tears by her attempts at formulating some kind of store joke, and likely would have collapsed in a puddle of her own joyous tears if she hadn't noticed the glowing mines. "Oh no! Oh nooooo!! Everything around here just burns you! That's no good! Whatever shall I- ahahaha! Ahahahaha!"She backed up a yard or two, almost falling backward. With complete nonchalance, she suddenly cradled her scythe and dragged it across her throat and diagonally across her torso, sending blood spurting at an inhuman velocity. And, as it turned out, there was more inhumanity to come. Though from a distance it was difficult to make out, the blood hovered in the air for a moment before forming into small blades that shot toward the mines, aiming to set them off. "Ahaha- gglugh- hahaha! Knock knock knock- ghk- knock knock knock knock~!"...She seemed emotionally prepared to bear the brunt of whatever came of them from where she stood. Maybe too prepared. Always too prepared, really.

By the time that She had reached the barricade of mines, one half of the opposing forces present had already withdrawn, leaving the remaining two to continue their clash. Speaking of said mines, they would erupt in a massive cascade of green flames and crackling energy, almost certainly engulfing her in an exceptionally lethal manner. Or, at least, lethal to most beings. A handful of Mira's soldiers ceased firing for a moment, attention drawn by the wacky antics of their new ally, though the explosion quickly sent them running for cover.

And so, exactly what you'd expect to happen would happen. Horrible burns, body parts here and there, everything where it shouldn't be. Looks like when she's not horrifyingly accurate at deflecting things with a fucking scythe she's just as squishy as a human would be. Probably for the best for everyone involv- "H-Ha..."Oh no. "Hahaha... hahahahaha~! ♫"Every piece of her twitched, writhing in a sickening way. "W-Wow! Wow! Wow wow wow! That was fun!" she laughed. "Finally, a little- gh- exc-excitement! Hahaha!"Slowly - but faster than you'd think, still - all of her misplaced parts moved toward each other. No matter how far away they were, they inched back toward her as though reeled in on a thread. All of her injuries and burns - even on the bits far from her body - began healing up before everyone's very eyes. Soon enough she was back on her feet again, a shambling corpse with a grinning face made mostly of burnt flesh and blood. "L-Looks like that's- gluh- that's all there was! Now it's time for the r-rgh- for the real fun! Hahaha! Ahahahaha~! ♪" she sang, dragging herself into the storefront with a gait as merry as it physically could be.
