|| - Unused Area - ||♠ that was actually bc i forgot to zalgo his text but lets roll with it By now Dicro's face looked almost completely black under his hood, eyes flickering and glowing beneath it. He tried to stay still and calm his glitches and spasms, but he couldn't keep little sparks from running up and down his spine - both literally and metaphorically. He controlled his breaths carefully, staring intently at the two brothers for any little changes in expression. Though he trusted them both (perhaps more than he should have), the atmosphere in the room was undeniably oppressive. If he was wrong, then... perhaps even if he was right, then... He opened his mouth, but nothing came out. His skin felt cold. Then, all at once, he forced himself to speak: "Th͝at̢ you̷ h̴aveń'ţ ́b̛et͝ra̡y͘ed ͟h͟im.͏ That ͞you͞ ҉hav͢e͜n̴'̷t́ ̧dȩfi̕ed h͟i͡ḿ, lef͟t, ̸t̕ried͘ ͝to ͢e͝xpl̡oit a ̧lo͟op̷ho͏l͢e̴, ͠d̵o̵ne s̸ometh͢íng͜ t͝ơ ma͢k̶e ͟y͜o͝ųr̢ ̨i̡ņtént ơbv͝ious͞ ̛a̡n͡d ͜e͘n̵d͝ ̀up ̶g̵ètti̢ng̢ y̕o͟u͜rse̸l̷v͡es ̸k͡ille̕d͏.̵ ̕B͜y..."His voice was quiet but firm, all too clear despite the slight distortion. His heartbeat jumped from a dead stillness into a frantic rhythm, prompting him to subtly clutch at his chest as each breath became heavier than the last. He stumbled into a new sentence, not wanting to confess what he already had in their first meeting. "Th̸at'͞s̀ wha͜t͜ ̷h͠a҉pp͡éne͏d b̛éfor̶e ͢a̷nd̵.͞.̸.́ ̸I t͡ak̷e it t̨h͏at... t̵ha͟t ҉t̸her̕e's ͡st̴il͟l ̧t͟im̸e to̷ ̢ḩelp͢ sa̷v̕e yo͜u,͜ t̨o͢o.̢ ̶R̶ig͜ht? "Well then! I'm glad you understand your place," began the lips that hovered dangerously close to her face, speaking slowly and deliberately. Though the hallway was still submerged in darkness, the white, humanoid figure standing much too closely behind her was perfectly visible. "But, I have a confession myself, if you'll keep quiet about it," the woman continued, cupping a hand around one of Solana's ears. "I happen to be an intruder myself. Quite the coincidence, isn't it? However, there is an important difference between us, and it's that, well," she giggled, "I can't imagine you came here looking for a meal. ♥"

Once again, 2cro's words were met with a long, drawn-out silence. This silence, however, was tangibly different from the previous few; oppressive and constricting, nearly as alive as the hungry shadows back in the entrance hall. The brothers didn't have to speak to relay their answer; the silence communicated it with utmost clarity.
"...So your claims to have merit, then. I know not what you experienced elsewhere, but Nerajj and I are entirely capable of handling things. Plans and contingencies for every foreseeable outcome, safe refuges, and so on... and considering that this entire room hasn't collapsed into a void of fire and torment, you aren't working for him. Tell me, then. What is it that you seek to accomplish by coming to us now?"
Nerajj, per usual, remained silent, thought process ablaze with endless different possibilities concerning their apparent benefactor and his revelations. Deciding it best to hold his proverbial tongue until they were once again alone, the infernal kept his silent vigil of watching the entrances to the room.

|| - Unused Area - ||((pretend this is zalgo'd ssh)) Dicro maintained eye contact as well as he could, stilling himself so wholly to accomplish this that he seemed like a statue: cold, silent, unmoving. As soon as Julias finished speaking he broke it off, looking off to the side and tugging at his sleeves like a child in trouble. Could he really trust that they were safe? He wanted to, he really did, but... he knew the kind of person Ignis was. Harsh, unforgiving, relentless, driven... the Ignis he knew wouldn't give up until anyone who offended him was a pile of ash. Especially someone as significant as these two. Was the Ignis here different? If Opine hadn't erased Umbra and the others yet, did that mean he was a little less vicious? Were such matters less pressing to him? Was he still grounded by something, anything? In this Entirety, was there any little shred of him that could be redeemed? Dicro's face turned a particularly malevolent shade of purple at the thought. Sacrificing all of his time and energy to try and fix someone who had already proven himself to be unendingly cruel in another world was the last thing he wanted to think about at the moment. It took him a moment to recover, though even upon regaining the ability to speak there was a lingering bitterness caught in the back of his throat that choked each breath. "...I really appreciate what you two did for me back there. Really, you didn't have any reason not to kill me the second you opened that coffin, or the second I told you that in another Entirety my face was the last one you saw. Even though it would've been more convenient for you to leave me there with that woman, you still took pity on me, even if it was just to get some answers..." he began, voice jarringly gentle and genuine beneath the static and distortion. "I don't," he laughed, a distraught and lost sort of sound, "I don't think anyone's showed that much concern for my well-being since... God, I don't remember. I can't remember the last time I was anything other than a murder weapon to anyone. And I guess... I mean... it sounds stupid, but... it's not like I had the chance to thank you before I passed out like an idiot," he continued, his right hand tangled in his hair and the left shaking on the back of his neck. He didn't notice as his hood fell back, giving the brothers a clear view of the half-dead smile on his face. It was the sort of smile only someone who hadn't smiled in years could make. Something strained and awkward but just as genuine as any other smile despite the self-loathing visible beneath it. His right hand slid to the side of his face, covering half of it as though he could only bear to look at the two with one eye. "So... thank you. But I don't really need to burden the two of you anymore. I appreciate you getting me this far, more than anything else in the world... but you don't need to drag me along to find this Entirety's Dicro. I'm sure it won't be hard to find him on my own, and I think that it would be dangerous for you two to be anywhere near where Dicro would be, anyway... If Ignis is looking for you, I mean, I can't imagine it would be safe to be anywhere near his most trusted associate. Though, I guess in an Entirety like this we... they must not have have of a connection at all, really..."Dicro was beginning to realize just how much he was rambling, his right hand coming to rest in an unnatural hover above his lips. Regrettably - in his own opinion, at least - it didn't keep him quiet for more than a second or two beyond a natural pause. "I don't need you for anything, per se. I just wanted to make sure you were safe. I just... I missed seeing your faces around. And I want to be able protect you like anyone else in this Entirety. I want to trust you when you say that you're secure and that you don't need my help. I really do, more than you know..." he trailed off, the color in his face unsure if it wanted to stay there or not. His left hand slid down his throat and dangled lifelessly at his side. He couldn't figure out a use for it. After a moment of contemplation he used it to pull his hood back up before folding his arms - a vague, hidden way to hold himself. "I just need a place to sleep for the night and clear my head, organize my thoughts, figure out exactly how I'm going to go about doing what I'm going to do next... I guess it's a little selfish, but it's... hard to comprehend doing much else tonight. And being somewhere so familiar is... comforting."

"Ah."
Despite what Solana could only interpret as an attempt at being cute, the shadowy stranger had made her intentions quite clear. She was not comfortable with them in the least.
"While I appreciate your honesty, you're a little too close for comfort. Please back off," she stated firmly. While there was hardly a point in being polite anymore, the alternative of 'turning around and unleashing Hell on earth by bathing this monstrosity in flame' certainly didn't seem like a viable course of action in the middle of a stranger's hallway.
She hesitated for a moment, but rather than waiting for the stranger's reply like a good little snack, she drew her dagger -- clearly a spell focus, ornate and engraved with faintly glowing runes -- and unleashed a bright, but soothing flash of light. While using a healing spell on someone who'd just implied they were going to eat you is generally not a recommended course of action, she hoped that its flashiness would disorient her assailant just enough to push back the encroaching darkness just enough to give her some room to breathe.

|| - Hallway - || ..."Please back off?" Did this tantalizing stranger really just politely ask her to give her some space? That was... quite the odd reaction. Normally people attempted to flee, or screamed, or pushed her away, or said "oh yes please beautiful stranger please devour me" (that one wasn't very common, much to Muri's disappointment), or did literally anything but plainly ask that she back off. This, of course, only served to make Solana more desirable. What an intriguing reaction! Such audacity! Such nonchalance! Oh, how she loved when they struggled... and this, a new sort of struggle, was something she wouldn't mind prolonging. Yes, this stranger was an interesting course indeed, and her taste buds were tingling at the very thought o-AUGH OH GOD THE LIGHT IT BURNS Of all things, a healing spell was probably what Muri was expecting the least, much less one that produced so much light. Caught off-guard, Muri detached herself from Solana and retreated down to the end of the main hallway, peeling back all of the shadows from the front half of the hall and allowing Solana access to the main room once more. From there it would be easy to run out of the door and escape, and despite the storm it would be the clear course of action. However, before Solana would have the chance to ponder such an escape, the main door swung open with a clap of thunder. Lightning struck soon after, illuminating the room just enough for Solana to catch a brief glimpse of five shadowy figures entering the mansion. "And when you four-stocked the former champ... it was incredible, Lady Umbra! You're so strong!" a young, cute voice cheered. "It wasn't that big of a deal... well, alright, maybe a little," appeared another voice, this one sounding like an adult woman. There was a sound of a lightswitch flicking and then... nothing. "...And of course the power is out," the second voice sighed. "Don't worry, Lady Umbra! I'll fix it!" an energetic voice spoke. There was a bit of shuffling, and then the fancy chandelier hanging from the ceiling lit up. Now the shadowy figures were fully visible: a black-haired woman in a familiar outfit holding a trophy, a young girl in another familiar outfit holding some kind of stuffed thing, a pink-haired woman in yet another familiar outfit holding a flat and wide box of some sort, a dark-clothed man who apparently was too cool to dress up like a video game character or hold anything, and... where did that fifth figure go? "There we go! Oh, hey, a guest!" said the... chandelier? Erm. Of course, at this point, Solana's primary concern at the moment would probably be that the owners of this building were now staring at her with various levels of concern, not that one of them had apparently turned into a chandelier. The pink-haired woman and the tall, dark, totally uncool man were already glaring daggers at her and prepared to attack at any moment, the young girl shifted behind the black-haired woman a bit, and said black-haired woman looked... a bit embarrassed? "Um," she began, a bit lost for words after looking between Solana and the current half-Muri'd nature of the hallway. "Hey."The black-haired woman glanced back at her tense companions, making a gesture that caused them to reluctantly relax their stances. The young girl made herself a bit more open, though still clung to the black-haired woman's arm. "And you are?" she asked calmly, returning her attention to Solana. Not the most normal way to respond to a home intruder, but probably the most pleasant for the unwitting intruder in question. Muri, meanwhile, discouraged by the further introduction of light as well as the entrance of several individuals known not to hesitate to defend themselves against her, retreated even further into the back of the hallway. Not far back enough for her to be invisible to the home's owners, but no one seemed particularly alarmed about Muri's presence nor threatened enough to address her over Solana. Muri wasn't an uncommon intruder, but Solana? Well, that was new. They hadn't dealt with people just waltzing in the door since the Competitions... was this a bad sign?

Both brothers remained uncomfortably silent as 2cro spoke, not even attempting to fill the brief periods of silence with any sort of response. In spite of that, however, the unaccommodating silence from both brothers would be something familiar to him. A good sign that the Nazeem brothers he was dealing with were not all too different from the ones he knew, at least, and possibly something that could grant him a bit of solace.
"...Well, you know me and my inability to properly formulate responses to gratitude, so don't consider it a problem. If anything, you have reassured us that making this decision is probably the ideal course of action. Will have to bump up our awareness to some degree, but that can come after you've been able to contact Dicro. The last I heard, he was about to guide a few of Ignis's new friends off into Black's subconscious, but I did what I needed to do there before they got underway. We can offer you refuge until such a time that you are able to do what it is you need to."
Black? Now there's a name that 2cro almost assuredly hadn't heard spoken in countless ages, from before the time that everything went to purple hell in a handbasket. Before Julias could continue any further, Nerajj recoiled back into the room as a result of the combination of Solana's magic, Muri's shifting down the hallway, and last but not least the arrival of the mansion's owners.
"Oh. That's definitely not good. I'm sure you might remember this trick, but hold your breath just in case."
With a few quick hand gestures from Julias, all three purple individuals would vanish into a rather Muri-like state of shadowy blob-matter, which proceeded to flow into the closet of the room. Good thing that Ara keeps it clear of spiders, huh? While doing so would mask the combined energy signatures of the trio, it would be entirely possible for anyone paying attention to the all-too-familiar magical signature of Julias to tell it had been there and vanished.

Solana was dumbfounded; she didn’t think her literal shot in the dark plan would actually work on something that felt so powerful! The wry smile on her face would easily betray how anticlimactic of an outcome she felt it was – were there anyone around to witness it, at least.
But of course, as if on cue, several new arrivals found their way through the front door.
As she turned her attention towards them – cautiously, of course; she didn’t entirely trust the writhing mass of shadow receding into the shadows further down the hall – she couldn’t help but notice something off about their outfits… Well, most of them. The man in the unfashionable hat stuck out for other reasons, but several of them were just uncannily familiar.
That’s right – it was that weird outworld media Ansaiele had subjected her to during the brief lull of peace before she left on her reality-hopping adventures. A game she claimed to like, but had never played. She always just figured Ansaiele was a gigantic nerd. Solana was absolutely on the mark there, of course, but admittedly never expected such information to be even marginally practical.
With this information, she could easily deduce the identities of these strangers… yes, it was so obvious…!
They too… were gigantic nerds. And likely the mansion’s real occupants. She was certainly one to talk, but she doubted anyone would so calmly barge into a house they didn’t own in full cosplay.
“Ah, I’m nobody in particular, just a lost and weary traveler trying to stay out of a storm,” she stammered in response to their apparent leader (who they referred to as ‘Lady Umbra’), caught off guard both by their sudden arrival and the death stares coming from the pink woman and the unfashionable man. “I mean no harm, I just… ran into a bit of trouble with that… lovely individual over there.” She motioned towards the shadows, taking yet another glance backwards to ensure it was still reeling from her ‘attack’…
Right. The weapon.
Realizing she was still armed, she reluctantly stowed her dagger away in hopes that it might calm the others a little bit more than Umbra already had. She didn’t want any more trouble in this spooky house if she could help it.
“Truthfully, I wasn’t quite sure if anyone lived here until I entered. Since I’m obviously intruding, I’ll just… be on my way… perhaps.” As much as Solana didn’t want to be anywhere near the hallway, she also didn’t feel super comfortable trying to barge past four suspicious people and a possessed chandelier. Inconvenient.

|| - Unused Area - || At Julias' response, Dicro allowed himself to breathe again. A certain sort of euphoria washed over him as he continued, blurring his vision. He struggled to focus, taking a few breaths that only served the purpose of calming him down. Somehow, experiencing this sort of kindness and understanding was more overwhelming than the fear he had felt before it. He felt viciously uneasy at his recollection of this Entirety's Dicro's whereabouts, but that was something that couldn't be helped at the moment. And Black... it had been so long- Dicro's thoughts were cut off by the multitude of interruptions that presented themselves all at once, at which point he became disoriented and silently obedient. He, of course, could recognize the energy signatures that just appeared on the scene. He tensed up, partially out of anxiety and partially to keep himself from throwing logic to the wind and bursting into the main room. also bc there were spiders EVERYWHERE oh noooo j/k ara is very good Upon mention of Muri, Umbra glared into the hallway where Muri remained. "Don't you have anywhere better to loiter?" she sighed. Muri, clearly still frazzled, quickly regained her composure and steepled her fingers before flattening them beneath her chin. "Honestly, Umbra, you should be thanking me. Really, when you think about it, I was doing you the favor of guarding the place for you! I eat any intruders, your home stays safe. It's a wholesome relationship, don't you think?" she spoke, fluttering her eyelashes. "Get out of here." Umbra responded bluntly, unamused. "Oh fine, fine... but only for the time being. ♥" Muri giggled before zipping back into the depths of the hallway, off to who-knows-where. Probably still in the mansion somewhere, seeing that she's not quite one to follow directions... but Umbra didn't seem particularly concerned, instead returning her attention to Solana. "Right. Sorry about that. Muri's... well, she's Muri. Anyway, don't worry about it. We're not exactly strangers to having random people waltz in, to be honest," Umbra assured her. "That being said, I don't think this storm is letting up any time soon.""Lady Umbra...!" the pink girl with the ribbon exclaimed in a hushed tone, as though rejecting something Umbra hadn't even finished saying. Ignoring her, Umbra continued. "Why don't you stay here for the night? We have plenty of spare rooms, so it's not that big of a deal. Or at least just stay until it clears up a little. I mean, I'm guessing you didn't drive here. Or even bring an umbrella, for that matter.""I had to be an umbrella on the way here!" the chandelier cheerfully interjected. "Lady Umbra, you can't be serious." the man in the fedora said with a scowl. "Just because this isn't the Competition doesn't mean we can drop our guard.""We bought cake if you want any. We got more than we'll probably eat so..." Umbra continued once again, complete with ignoring her displeased assistants. Ribbon Girl seemed to reluctantly resign herself to the situation and instead edged closer to Umbra, passing the mysterious (well, not so mysterious anymore) box over to Fedora Guy. "Lady Umbra, I don't think they were the only people hiding in here. I definitely felt someone else... I'm gonna check it out." she whispered, though not so quietly that Solana wouldn't be able to hear. Umbra nodded and Ribbon Girl moved down the hall, giving Solana an I'm-watching-you gesture on the way past. || - Unused Area - || As if the past few minutes hadn't been chaotic enough for Julias and company, they were now interrupted by the lovely sound of Ciess slamming every door open one by one. Ciess. Of all people, it had to be Ciess. Stifling an exceptionally exasperated sigh, Julias silently disengaged his own shadowy disguise, leaving Nerajj and 2cro safely hidden away... provided Ciess didn't get too curious, of course. Having decided that it would be easier to sell his story with a convincing appearance, Julias hurriedly slashed a couple of tears into his armor with one of his blades, which he re-sheathed before stepping nonchalantly out into the pink-haired menace's view.
"Easy now. I was under the impression that I maintained a standing invitation to my room."
Nerajj, meanwhile, remained with 2cro inside the closet, still reduced to a shadowy form. Awkward? Maybe just a little.

|| - Unused Area - || Ciess calmed down upon seeing Julias, though she still looked unhappy. Of course, that would likely be of no particular concern to Julias given prior exposure to Ciess. It was more worrisome for her to not have a scowl on her face. Though the Princess Peach costume was probably kind of jarring. "Oh. It's just you," Ciess "greeted", folding her arms and glancing around the room. She was sure she had felt more than one person in here, and she wasn't the sort to accept that she was wrong. To cope with this great struggle, she resorted to her usual habit of antagonizing her allies. "Convenient how you're never around when Lady Umbra needs support," she huffed, as if missing out on Umbra dressing up as an anthropomorphic bird was a mortal sin. "But, whatever. What the hell happened to you, anyway?" she asked with only mild interest, noting his state of (self-inflicted) disrepair. Dicro, meanwhile, had gone cold both inside and out, his body temperature rapidly dropping below the threshold for living. The sound of Ciess' voice again after so long was a serious blow to him, one that sent his mind hurtling into a black stillness. Each new sentence prompted his heart to beat faster and faster until the sound of it drowned out every thought but one: "I want to see her."All of the static radiating from his form was enough to make him dizzy. The urge to burst out of the closet was overwhelming. If he could just see one of them, just once...!

Julias managed to resist the oh-so-tempting urge to ask about Ciess's outfit, lest he have some real wounds to match his self-inflicted ones, and attempted to peer out past her into the hallway where the others were gathered. From the looks of things, the other intruder was managing to keep the attention of the rest of the alliance, so he decided to concentrate on distracting the pink terror long enough to cause her to lose interest.
"Out on official business, if you must know. My lord is making a fairly significant push to secure some more leeway in his... situation, and the entirety of the Torqueo Procuratis has been deployed as a means to an end. Alas, things went somewhat awry, as they do, and I required a place to take refuge from the proverbial hounds. Not many have the means or gall to make a trip into the Test Reality, even these days, so I assumed it the best choice of action. Color me surprised when I came back to find everyone gone, but I'm pleased to see that you've returned. Never did care for being in this place alone."
Nerajj, for his part, did his best to ignore 2cro's stingy vibes and keep him from ruining Julias's ploy. Talking their way out of a weird, glitchy purple clone of Dicro would be something else entirely when compared to making Ciess bored.

So, about par for the course. "Well, whatever. You better not bring any trouble here, got it? Because if Lady Umbra doesn't kick your ass for it, I will!" Ciess threatened, walking back toward the doorway without waiting for a response. "It's just Julias, I guess!" she shouted down the hallway toward the main room. Solana watched Ciess go about her antics for a moment. She... really walked into some strange company here, huh? It certainly wasn't every day that you were busted for a home invasion only for the owner to tell you it happens all the time, AND learn that the monster that attacked you in the hallway was a regular guest, AND for someone to discover yet another uninvited guest...
She didn't really feel like wrapping her head around it for now. Might as well just roll with the punches.
"Well, sure, I'll stay the night if that's okay with you," she sighed after what seemed like an eternity (because it took me an eternity to post this, get it? GET IT?? Comedy!!!!).

"Nice to meet you then, Solana," Umbra welcomed warmly, extending her hand for a handshake which I'll assume Solana accepted bc she's not rude!!! "My name is Umbra. This is Ara, that's Shan, and the chandelier is Cenoir. Don't think too much on that, it's normal," she said, gesturing to each in turn.
