While there's really no telling what brought you to the most remote regions of Eorzea, the most attention-grabbing thing for a good while would have to be the imposing, iron-walled complex of various metal structures perched conveniently on the edge of a steep cliff. An assortment of individuals clothed in various kinds of red and black armor seemed to be patrolling the fortress grounds, which could be confirmed with a brief period of observation. Most of the individuals were speaking in not-quite-hushed tones about something, though it would be difficult to understand without taking the risk of getting closer.
...Well, there's plenty of rock outcroppings and conveniently-placed palm trees around...

Boy golly was Eo grateful for those inexplicably convenient hiding spots! They were an insatiably curious person, and as such even though they probably should've been worried about how incredibly lost they were instead they just wanted to get closer. Eavesdropping happened to be one of their favorite pastimes, so there was no way they were letting this opportunity slip through their fingers. Gripping their trusty caduceus tightly, Eo settled themself behind one of the aforementioned rock outcroppings, almost a little excited. Who were these people? What were they talking about? Would they lead them to a world adventure? Would they try to murder them? There was only one way to find out! Steadying their breathing to be as silent as possible, they listened closely and kept an eye out for any possible escape routes to run for if that became necessary. Ha! Just kidding. They were actually looking to see if there was any way to get even closer, because Eo wasn't one to run away from a little danger.

A woman with a rather large axe sat down next to Eo, leaning against the wall and facing the opposite direction of the castrum. She had heard rumors of movement within and thought to investigate, half out of concern for Eorzea and half out of a reckless desire for adventure. Well, it's actually in more of a 1/16 ratio of concern to adventure, but the concern is there and that's what counts. She leaned over slightly towards Eo's direction and half-whispered, "Hey, you got any idea what they're doing?"

From their vantage point behind the rocks, the Miqo'te and necrodetective (as well as anyone else who happened to be listening in) would be able to pick up on the conversation going on between two armored individuals who happened to pause their patrolling under the shade of a nearby tree.
"...yeah, the entire squad, reaper and everything. I hear it was just one guy."
"Really? Ye gods, was it another one of those Scion adventurers or something?"
"The centurion doesn't seem to think so. Wherever he came from sure didn't seem to be something he recognized... sort of like one of those Ishgardian Machinists, but he had some sort of firearm that dropped the squad's mech in one shot. Rumor is that the praefectus and his advisor are on their way to investigate the incident personally."
"Chief Parvus? I think I'll keep a few yalms away from the castrum, just in case..."
After a few more moments of rest, the pair of soldiers departed on their way, changing course to avoid the fortress gates. Sure sounds like an interesting time going on in there, eh?

Conveniently-placed hiding spots, palm trees in particular, are basically a godsend. Anyway, why are these two even here? I mean really, a tailor and a kind-of trainee bartender being here probably isn't a good idea- oh what the hell they were tired of nothing happening and decided to get themselves into trouble. Of course they were able to pick up on the conversation from where they were. The two looked at each other in confusion, and soon did the shrug emoji thing. They're actually thinking of going through with this. They're going to do the dangerous thing. Oh god they silently high-fived each other. God help them

Finally, after well over a year, the words of the guards reached the woman's catlike ears. In fact, it had been so long that her outfit had spontaneously changed - but let's not worry too much about that, yes? She poked her head slightly out from her cover to take a quick survey of the guard - not exactly in the stealthiest manner, mind you, but considering how her concern to adventure ratio had dropped to about 1:64 at this point, she didn't particularly care. While taking count of the number of guards patrolling around, she reached over to poke Eo a few times. "Hey, hey, stranger, you wanna race? 'Cuz I'm thinkin' this'll be a hell of a lot more fun if we race to the entrance over there." She ducked back down to look over at Eo, her eyes sparkling with excitement with a great big smile expanding across her face. "I dunno about you, stranger, but I wanna see that dude they were talkin' about over there."
